NUI welcomes Vietnamese delegation

NUI Chancellor Dr Maurice Manning with NUI Registrar Dr Attracta Halpin and high level delegation of government officials from Vietnam

The NUI Chancellor today welcomed members of a high level delegation of government officials from Vietnam to NUI. The delegation was led by Dr Bui Ha (centre), Director General, Department for National Economic Issues, Ministry of Planning and Investment and included other officials from key government departments. The delegation government officials were accompanied by Professor Tho Dinh Nguyen, Vice President, Hanoi Foreign Trade University. The Registrar Dr Attracta Halpin gave a briefing to the delegation on the role of the National University of Ireland and on quality assurance and enhancement in Irish universities. Mr Fergal Costello Fergal, Head of Systems Governance and Performance Management, made a presentation to the group on Irish higher education policy and funding. Referring to a recently signed agreement between Ireland and Vietnam on the exchange of PhD students, Ms Sinead Lucey of IUA outlined the commitment of the Irish universities to the development of collaboration and partnerships with Vietnamese universities. Mr Terry McParland explained the role of Enterprise Ireland in the promotion of Irish higher education.
