The National University of Ireland provides a range of awards annually to students, graduates and staff of the NUI constituent universities and recognised colleges These awards include fellowships, travelling studentships, bursaries, scholarships and prizes.

The NUI Awards ceremony for 2009 will take place in the Great Hall, Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin on Wednesday 25 November 2009, when the Chancellor of the University, Dr Maurice Manning, in the company of representatives of the constituent universities and members of the NUI Senate, will present awards to over one hundred students and graduates of UCD UCC NUI Galway NUI Maynooth RCSI and NCAD.

The 2009 awards include nine Travelling Studentships with a combined value in excess of €100,000, the Denis Phelan Scholarship of €14,000, the Mary L. Thornton Scholarship in Education of €5,000, the Mansion House Fund Scholarships, the Dr HH Stewart Literary and Medical Scholarships and medals and the NUI Art and Design Prize.
